Hi, My name is Lourdes Ulanday, 72 years old, my friends and family call me Ode or simply call me "mommy."Two weeks ago, I was rushed to the hospital due to an accident where I tripped and my head hit the floor badly. Because of the accident, the doctor had to stitch my forehead due to the strong impact. While I was at the hospital, the doctors did a thorough check on me since I am also diabetic. I had an infection that needed to be addressed ASAP so they also did a surgery on my infected foot. After 2 days, I was able to get home.Now, I am back in the hospital again due to complications. I was rushed to the hospital again for the 2nd time due to difficulty in breathing. We found out that there is fluid in my lungs and heart. If a lot of water gets into the lungs and is not expelled, it can irritate the lining of the lungs and cause fluid buildup ― a condition called pulmonary edema.The procedures that need to get done are Thoracentesis ― a procedure to remove fluid or air from around the lungs and Pericardiocentesis ― a procedure done to remove fluid that has built up in the sac around the heart (pericardium).My running bill right now is already at PHP 150,000+ pesos and counting.Normally, we would keep this on our own and try to manage the overwhelming financial needs within the family.
